Dalkeith Miners Club is located on Woodburn Road, Dalkeith & was originally constructed in 1963. Our club began with what is now known as the Wee Hall (The Tail Gate), a lounge & the Games Room (The Stable). Major renovations were completed in the year of 1984 to bring us our largest function hall which is now known as the Big Hall (The Main Gate). More detailed information about the venue & the current facilities can be found by clicking here.
Like many other miners welfare associations, our club was originally funded by local working men who chose to donate a portion of their wage into a communal fund in order to pay for the construction & running of the building - With assistance from CISWO: The Coal Mining Charity. The club has since served at the heart of the community, providing facilities for people to meet, socialise & grow together.
Our Club is collectively owned by our members & managed by an elected Management Committee, the Committee are volunteers who oversee the running of both Dalkeith Miners' Welfare Society & Dalkeith Miners' Charitable Society. The welfare society is responsible for all social, sales & entertainment; the charitable society is responsible for all charitable activities. More information on Dalkeith Miners' Charitable Society & the great things we do, can be found here.
